Souhegan Baseball Calendar
|
|
The Souhegan baseball team, with the assistance of Mens Wearhouse, Souhegan High School teacher John Ranta and the Copy Shop are selling 2012 calendars that features seventeen Souhegan Baseball Players dressed in Men's Wearhouse apparel. The calendars can be purchased for $15 from a Souhegan baseball player, in athletic office or by contacting Coach Dod.

Wreaths

|
Souhegan Baseball Players and Coaches placed 500 wreaths on our Veterans' graves in Amherst on Saturday, Nov 26th. The baseball team has enjoyed this activity and it's an outstanding event.

iPAD2 Raffle
|
|
The iPAD2 raffle has started ... tickets are on sale from now until the half of the Thanksgiving Annual Milk Jug game with Merrimack ... the iPAD, protective screen and case is with $590 ...
You may obtain extra tickets from Bill Dod or Diane Gratz in the athletic office ... The goal would be to sell 500 raffle tickets. The tickets will be collected on November 22 in room 128 at 2:15 pm or at the game on November 24.

Swing South Fundraiser
|
|
The Souhegan Sabers Baseball Team is heading off to spring training in Florida in April of 2012!
The team and coaches will have the unique opportunity to train at the Pittsburgh Pirates Training Facilities in Bradenton, Florida.
In an effort to lower the cost for the players, the team will hold a "Dining for Dollars" Fundraiser at the Longhorn Steakhouse on Rte 101A, Thursday, Oct 27th from 11am-10pm.
10% of each lunch or dinner check accompanied by a voucher will go directly to
the Souhegan Sabers Baseball Team.

The tenth Varsity Player of the
Week is awarded to Robert Graham. Robert is a junior who plays shortstop and third
base and pitches. Robert has become one of Souhegan's top offensive weapons as
he leads the Sabers in numerous offensive categories. His hard work and
dedication has helped develop him into a solid defensive player.

The ninth Varsity Player of the
Week is awarded to Zack Polio. Zack is a senior, pitcher. Zack has taken over
the role as closer on the Souhegan pitching staff. He has been vital to stopping
the opponents late game rallies and saved a number of Saber victories. more

Varsity defeats John Stark
|
|
The Souhegan Sabers defeated the John Stark Generals 13 to 3.
Souhegan jumped on the scoreboard with two first inning runs. Chris Almeida walked, stole second and scored when Matt Schagrin blasted a home run to straight away center for a 2-0 Sabers lead.

The eighth
Varsity Player of the Week is Matt Schagrin. Matt is a senior, designated
hitter. Matt batted five for eleven for the week with two home runs and six rbi
as the team won two of three games. In addition to the importance of Matt's bat
to the team, he finds ways to assist the team.

|
|
The Souhegan Sabers traveled to Portsmouth for a night game and to attempt to break the Portsmouth 72 game win streak.
Souhegan jumped on the Clippers in the first inning. Chris Almeida walked, Tyler Manoogian singled and Matt Schagrin blasted the second pitch he saw over the left center field fence and gave Souhegan a 3 to 0 lead.

Varsity Player of the Week is Robby McCormick. Robby is a junior, pitcher /
outfielder. Robby has the closer for the pitching staff as he has earned three
saves during the season. On Monday, Robby picked up a save in two innings vs

In the first ever meeting of the two schools in baseball, the Souhegan Sabers defeats Windham High School 7 to 4.
Terry Dugdale threw a three hitter, struck out 12, walked four in five innings of work. Robby McCormick picked up his second save of he season pitching two strong innings. Robby struck out two and walked two.

Varsity Player of the Week

The sixth
Player of the Week is presented to Chris Almeida. Chris is a senior, outfielder.
Chris has been an important aspect of the Souhegan offense. Leading in the top
of the order, Chris has show the ability to reach base, start rallies, drive in
runs and run the bases at a high level. He is an excellent defensive play in
centerfielder has ended a number of opponents rallies in the web of his glove.

JV Player of the Week

Andrew
MacDonald has been named the Jr Varsity Player of the Week. Andrew has
worked hard all season long at many different positions. He has played solid
defense at catcher, outfield and anywhere he is asked to play. Mac also has
improved greatly on offence, in the John Stark he was 4 for 4 with 3 doubles and
8 rbi. With his hard work and great attitude he continues to get better every
day.

The Sabers Jr Varsity hosted John Stark on Wednesday afternoon and defeated the Generals by the score
of 18-3. The JV Sabers travel to Portsmouth on Friday to meet the Clippers at 4:15pm.

Varsity defeats Goffstown
|
|
The Souhegan Sabers welcomed the Goffstown Grizzles back into Division II with a 5 to 2 Souhegan victory.
The Sabers sent junior, righty Terry Dugdale to the mound. Terry pitched six innings, struck out 13, walked none and allowed no earned runs to pick up his second victory of the season.

This weeks JV player of the week is Michel
Ehrenstein. Michel has pitched well in two starts the first week of the season,
including a one hitter against Con-val. Michel has also done well on offence
hitting .428 with 5 rbi, 4 R, and 3 BB.

been the Souhegan lead off hitter and his abilities to reach base and put

Nick Hession is the Varsity Player of the
Week and senior third baseman. Nick moved from shortstop to third base this
season. Nick has played an outstanding third base which strengthen the over all
team play. He bats in the middle of the Sabers' batting order and will be

Chris and Nick were two of the twenty seven Souhegan athletes honored at the awards ceremony which recognizes two sports athletes who have demonstrated academy success and participated in community service.

annual NHHSBCA
Coaches Clinic was held on Sunday, February 13th at Souhegan High School
in Amherst. Approximately 100 high school coaches from around NH
attended the clinic. Clinic speakers included Bob Caswell from
Power Series in Wilton, NH and college coaches from
the University of Connecticut, Worcester State College, Colby Sawyer
College, Keene State College and
Castleton State College.
