Game Summary

The Merrimack Valley Pride traveled to Amherst to play the number 5 seeded Souhegan Sabers and defeated the hoe town nine 8 to 2.

The Pride offense had timely hitting with two base hits to jump out to a three run lead in the second inning.  The Pride continued to chip away with a clutch single and sacrifice fly to up the lead to 5-0.

In the sixth, The Pride loaded the bases and Souhegan came up with a nifty 5-2-3 double play ... James Astbury (third) to D J Petropulos (catcher) to Tim Beliveau (first) ... but, with two outs the Pride took advantage of a Souhegan error and scored three insurance runs.

Souhegan offense was paced by Matt Schagrin who had a towering solo home run to left field in the second inning.  In the seventh inning, Alex Lyon singled, stole second and scored on a Chris Chininis rbi single to end the Souhegan scoring.

The Sabers ended the successful season with an excellent 13 and 4 record.  CONGRATULATIONS to the six graduating seniors (JON AUNIO, JOE CERRA, ALEX LYON, NATHAN MARCUCCI, D J PETROPULOS and ALEX SCRIBNER) for their outstanding leadership throughout the 2010 Spring !!!
