NH Coaches Association Honors!

  Varsity Awards Banquet Held!

 

Mike Wieczerzak and Amy Ferguson were honored by the New Hampshire Coaches Association for playing three season for each of their four years in high school …

Class I Sportsmanship Awards!

 

The Class I Athletic Directors have announced the selection of the 2007 Sportsmanship Award winners for this Spring Teams. Each school selects opponents who's athletes, coaches and fans demonstrate outstanding sportsmanship during the season. The 2007 Sportsmanship Award for Baseball was awarded to Souhegan High School.

 

Senior All-Star Team!

 

Congratulations to Alex Manoogian, Merrimack's Joe Modugno, and Londonderry's Chris Caron and Jon McMahon who earned spots on the New Hampshire Baseball Coaches Association Senior All-Stars roster.

 

These players will team up with 14 other Granite State players in a game against the Maine All-Stars on June 18th, 12pm, at Hadlock Field - home of Red Sox Double-A affiliated Portland Sea Dogs.

 

Coach Dod has been selected to join the coaching staff and and will be rostered as an Assistant Coach.

 

Bobcats over Sabers, 7-5!

 

The Souhegan Saber baseball team and the Plymouth Bobcats faced off in the quarterfinals of the Class I tournament and the Plymouth nine came away with a 7 to 5 victory.

Senior, right handed pitcher Mike Piekielek threw six strong innings, allowed five earned runs, gave up 9 hits, struck out five and walked only one batter. The Souhegan infield registered nine assists. Right fielder Alex Hession ended the 6th inning with a running catch, then throwing a strike to first base to catch the run and complete the inning ending double play.

Plymouth combined well placed bunts and seeing eye hit and run singles to jump out to a 5 - 0 lead after two innings. In the sixth, Souhegan rallied with five runs of their own ... Peter Gallagher doubled to right center, Ryan Thompson and Steve Albano earned back to back walks to load the bases ... P J Black single to left scored Peter Gallagher ... with two outs, Mike Pielielek tripled down the right field line and a Joe Beck double to the left field fence tied the game at 5 to five ... a line drive Colin Corcoran Schwartz single put runners on the corners ... but the rallied ended and the score was tied 5 to 5 ...

Plymouth led the bottom of the sixth with their only base on balls, a sacrifice bunt put a runner on second ... the Bobcats scored on a infield error and added a run with a base hit ...

Peter Gallagher and Mike Piekielek were Souhegan multiple hitters with two hits a piece ...

With the season completed, the Souhegan program was represented by the outstanding leadership of the seniors Joe Beck, P J Black, Colin Corcoran Schwartz, Tim Hartshorn, Erik Lyon, Alex Manoogian, Mike Piekielel and Mike Wieczerzak ... THANK YOU for your efforts and GOOD LUCK in the future!!!

 

Sub-Varsity Coaches Award!

 

The A.J. Hinners Sub-Varsity Baseball Coaches Award was presented to Kevin Goldsmith and Landon Kowlaczylk during the Sub-Varsity banquet on Tuesday, May 29th. Congratulations to Kevin and Landon!

Freshman vs Keene!

 

The SHS Freshman baseball team wrapped up it's season with a well played 1-0 loss to the Keene HS Blackbirds. Starting pitcher, Alex Scribner threw a complete game 6 hitter while striking out 3, walking 1 and yielding only 1 unearned run. The Sabers played their best game of the year defensively with Sam Protzmann making a spectacular web gem in left field on a Keene line drive. Griff Raaberg also did a nice job at shortstop turning a big unassisted double play in the 2nd inning and had 3 assists to go along with 2 put outs on the afternoon.

Student Athlete Recognition!

 

The New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association and the New Hampshire Athletic Directors Association held the 9th Annual New Hampshire High School Male Athletic/Academic Award Program on Monday, March 19, 2007. 

 

NHIAA high school males from throughout New Hampshire were recognized for achieving academic and athletic excellence. Award recipients are nominated each year by their school principals based on criteria which requires the high school senior have a B+ grade point average, letter in at least two varsity sports, participate in community service activities and serve as a role model to his peers. At the awards ceremony, each student athlete is presented with an award certificate and a commemorative pin. Click here for more photos...

 

The recipients from Souhegan High School are Joseph Beck, Michael Caso, Timothy Hartshorn, Nicholas Kimberly, Christopher Kokko, Samuel Lawrence, Robert Liscord, Mitchell Osbourne, Daniel Parolin, Michael Piekielek and Michael Wieczerzak.

 

15th Annual Leadership Conference!

 

On March 15th and 16th, New Hampshire Athletic Directors' Association and the New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association Conducted the 15th Annual Student Athletes Leadership Conference at the Bedford Wayfarer Inn. Senior/Parent Awards Banquet!
 
The 15th Annual Souhegan High School Senior/Parent Athletic Awards Banquet was held on Thursday evening, May 17th at the Sheraton Tara in Nashua. Several awards were presented to senior athletes, including two awards to baseball players.

Seen the photo above, Joe Beck was awarded the male State Farm Insurance Sportsmanship Award and Kathryn Buonadonna was awarded the female State Farm Insurance Sportsmanship Award. Tim Hartshorn was awarded the male U.S. Army Reserves National Scholar Athlete Award. Congratulations to Joe, Kathryn, and Tim on their awards.

Caleb Ginsberg - Northeastern,

SHS graduate Caleb Ginsberg is presently playing for Northeastern University. During 2006, Caleb played six games and made his first ever collegiate pitching appearance...singled in his first at-bat of the season vs. Mount St. Mary's March 5...made his collegiate pitching debut against Marist on March 28...threw one shutout inning...had an RBI single and a walk in two plate appearances vs. UMass in Beanpot consolation game at Fenway Park April 25.
