The Souhegan Sabers baseball team traveled to number 3 ranked Lebanon in the opening round of the Class I tournament. The Sabers dropped a 8 to 1 game.

Trailing 3 to 0 in the top of the fifth inning, Souhegan loaded the bases ... Mike Bolton drag bunt single, Tyler Manoogian reaching base on an infield error which put runners on second and third, Chris Almeida walked and Kevin Goldsmith battled Lebanon lefty Rob Woodward. A TIE GAME was written all over a Kevin Goldsmith line drive ... which landed 'four inches' foul and the rally soon ended.

In the sixth inning Nick Hession and Paul Becotte both walked and designated hitter Matt Caputo's rbi single played Nick Hession. more details...

D J (Junior) has solidified the Souhegan defense with his outstanding play behind the plate. In addition to his leadership of the pitching staff, D J threw out two runners attempting to steal a base in both the Portsmouth and Con-Val games. Batting in the fourth slot of the batting order, D J's stroke has added a potent bat for the Sabers offensive attack.

The ninth Souhegan Baseball Varsity Player of the Week for the 2009 season is presented to John Barnes.
