Freshman Finale, 5-4W!

In a thrilling season finale, James Astbury pitched a gem of a game to lead SHS to the victory. Spreading five grizzly hits with four strikeouts and a walk over seven innings, Astbury kept the potent GHS attack off balance all afternoon. Alex "Shoes" Tossel had two rbi's in the first to put SHS on top (3-0).

Jesse Bauld and Jeremy Nemec scored on Peter Desnoyers second hit of the game in the fourth to give SHS a commanding (5-1) lead. With a homer in the second and two runs in the fourth, Goffstown would not go away easy (5-3).

With one out in the bottom of the seventh Slugger Roy tripled to deep right field to cut the margin to one (5-4), but Astbury would get the last two grizzlies to ground out while the Sabers much improved defense held Roy on third.

Jesse Brill had another outstanding game behind the plate (1-2, 1rs), while Zach Polio (1-3, 1rs) and Desnoyers shored up the left side of the infield with six assists.

Coach Coughlin was pleased taking two games of the three game set against a good Goffstown team. "We really improved this season and it was a great way to finish. I really enjoyed coaching this team, they were a lot of fun".

Freshman, Sabers 10 - Goffstown 9!

SHS came back from an early 5-0 deficit to stun the strong hitting Goffstown nine. Zach Polio battled on the mound and came up with the game winning R.B.I. in the bottom of the 8th inning.

Peter Desnoyers single in the 3rd inning closed the gap to 5-4 and Jesse Brills two run home run blast put SHS on top 6-5 in the 5th inning. In a wild 6th inning the Grizzlies took advantage of an SHS error to go up 8-6, but the never say die Sabers would roar back once again.

Nick Russell singled and Eric Nelson was thrown out at home on a disputed call. Polio knocked home Russell and Jesse Bauld and the Black & Gold nine were even 8-8. more...

Freshman Player of the Week!

Jesse had a big week for the Sabers on the mound, behind the plate and at bat. Jesse was 4-5 batting with a double, two walks and two runs scored.

He pitched very effectively at Goffstown, striking out two. Jesse also did a nice job behind the plate against BG registering 4 put outs and continues to be an inspiring team leader.

New York City, Player Memories!

For me, the New York trip has always been special. But this, year, I wanted it to be the best one ever. This is my last trip, just like all of my senior classmates.

I was fortunate enough to go on this trip three times and to me it was and is always fun. I think as seniors, we bonded for many years and this is "it" for us. We came with twenty players and I think everyone came together like a team ... all of the newcomers came in and fit in so well. more...
